No YouTube stream for debut of Sky News Brexit-Free

Sky News Brexit-Free fails to stream online, only HD subscribers with Sky get the option to filter the B-word from their news diet.

The pop-up channel was originally announced as coming to YouTube, providing viewers with an option to catch-up with what else is happening in the world apart from Brexit.

In the end, the channel launched at 5pm only on Sky channel 523, in HD only - Sky's latest subtle hint to subscribers still hanging on to SD subscriptions. Non-Sky HD/Q subscribers were locked out of Sky's brave new Brexit-free world. The Sky News YouTube stream continued to show the Brexit dominated main channel.

The first night of Sky News Brexit-Free was presented by Sky's Gamal Fahnbulleh.

The new service could be interpreted as an operational trial for broadcasting two separate news channels from the Osterley site: an NBC/Sky international news channel is being prepped for launch from the site by Sky's new owner Comcast, with the company currently recruiting staff for the new channel.

Sky News Brexit-Free is the second pop-up channel to be broadcast by Sky News, following its first-ever pop-up, Sky News Raw, which was on-air to mark 30 years of Sky News.
