ITV cashes in former HQ for £145.6m

The former home of many of the UK's best known entertainment shows has been sold for £145.6m.

ITV has sold its estate on the South Bank to Mitsubishi Estate London Limited in an all-cash transaction that is due to complete by the end of November.

The London Studios site was originally London Weekend Television's headquarters, before becoming the headquarters and main studio complex for ITV PLC.

Over the decades, it was the home to many ITV productions, including most of ITV's breakfast and daytime programmes and many Saturday night entertainment shows.

Playout of ITV services previously handled at the South Bank were moved to Chiswick in 2007, while programmes continued to broadcast from the site until early 2018, before moving to other sites, notably the former BBC Television Centre in West London for all main daytime shows.
