Total Country channel closes

Country music channel Total Country has announced its closure, affecting viewers on Sky and Virgin Media.

Total Country was launched on the 1st November 2018, replacing Massive R&B on Sky. The channel was added to Virgin Media in March 2019.

Today is Total Country's final day on air.

In a statement, the channel's operator said "We've given it our best over the past year, and really enjoyed getting to know the amazingly friendly people of UK and US country music. But today we're moving on and we say thanks for all your support over the last 12 months."

Total Country occupied Sky channel 373 and Virgin Media channel 348 and was at the time the second country music channel to launch in the UK, after Keep It Country TV. Keep It Country subsequently re-branded as Spotlight TV and introduced non-country music programming into its schedule.
