As the first two games of twenty this season to be screened by Amazon UK were being streamed, a repeat of the US Open disaster, which saw many viewers lose access, appears to have been avoided.
Opening with Crystal Palace v Bournemouth and Burnley v Manchester City, viewers praised the sound options, which allows you to turn off the commentary in favour of stadium background as well the X-ray stats function plus the easy availability of the streams across multiple devices.

A relative small minority of social media users complained about buffering, time lag and black screens, although it's not clear how many issues were down to the user's hardware and/or software, or other connectivity issues - including anything from wi-fi quality to issues with ISPs.

Amazon had advised users to disable VPNs or proxy servers and ensure the Prime Video app being used was the latest version.
Many users thought the £7.99 a month price was good value, but of course anyone who already has Amazon Prime to get quick next day delivery for their groceries, gadgets and other goodies from Amazon.co.uk, effectively got the live Premier League coverage added for no extra cost.
Amazon will presumably hope anyone who has subscribed to Prime for the football realises they can get free next day delivery for their Christmas shopping from the website - Amazon will need to recoup the money spend on acquiring rights somehow.

The true acid test will come on Wednesday evening, when Amazon will screen five matches at the same time, with a sixth match starting 45 minutes later. Amazon will show six simultaneous matches on Boxing Day.
