Al Jazeera English starts 2020s with a refresh

Al Jazeera English has started the new decade with a refresh to its output, updating elements which have been the same since its launch in 2006.
An evolution on the channel's original look, the channel's idents, titles, backdrops and programme graphics have been updated.

The renovated newsroom includes a state-of-the-art studio set, décor, an expanded video wall and a presenter desk that rotates through 270 degrees with the enhanced lighting capabilities.
According to the broadcaster, this setup - which went live at 23:00 GMT on 1st January - allows for camera positions to be utilized with shots back into the newsroom. In addition, on screen graphics will feature creative elements with new colour themes reflecting audience and Al Jazeera employee feedback.

Giles Trendle, Managing Director of Al Jazeera English said:
We are excited to be starting the new decade with a refreshed look. This has involved the renovation of our studio and news room in Doha and the creation of some new on-screen features based on internal consultation as well as employee and audience feedback.

The new design for programme trailers means various elements during the breaks flow from one to the other in a seemless fashion.

Al Jazeera English is broadcast in the UK on Freeview channel 235, Virgin Media 622, Freesat 203 and Sky channel 513 as well as live on the Al Jazeera website and via YouTube.
