BT update causes channel loss

BT is changing its TV service - but a rogue update caused viewers to lose channels this afternoon.

An update is being rolled out to BT TV receivers ahead of tomorrow's relaunch of its TV service, including the full integration of Sky's Now TV on the platform.

But some viewers who received an update to their box on Thursday afternoon reported on social media that they had lost access to all BT TV channels, including BT Sport via their BT YouView boxes.

After 6pm, another update was being pushed to boxes which was restoring missing channels, plus adding the extra Now TV channels which will go live overnight.

BT has so far declined to comment about the incident.

From tomorrow, BT will make Sky's Now TV channels available to view on its Electronic Programme Guide.

Now TV SD and HD channels are being treated as separate services for the purposes of the integration, so Sky One will appear on channel 340 rather than 301, which is the assigned channel number for Sky One on YouView-based platforms. This also means that for services including Discovery, there are multiple channel numbers for Discovery, Discovery HD, Discovery (Now TV), Discovery HD (Now TV).
