Virgin Media comes out fighting on the day BT and Sky Sports restructure their sports packages.
From today, BT and Sky customers can combine BT and Sky Sports on one bill. But Virgin Media says it already does that and it's cheaper than its rivals.
In a comparison with its rivals, Virgin says its "Bigger + Sports" bundle, currently priced at just £65 per month for new customers, comes with ultrafast broadband of 100Mbps and full access to BT and Sky Sports, including BT's 4K UHD service.
Virgin claims that Sky’s similar offering (£74 per month over 18 months but without BT 4K UHD) means fans have to spend £108 extra a year and those looking for a more expensive move to BT (£84.99 per month over 24 months) would spend £239.88 extra a year.
David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media, said:
Virgin also points out that Amazon Prime Video isn't available on Sky boxes, meaning Sky subscribers don't get access to Amazon's Premier League games.
The comparison is based on new customer deals for TV, phone and broadband. However, set-up, delivery and installation costs were not factored in Virgin's calculations.

Virgin Media started the season by offering the cheapest and most convenient way to watch all of the football in one place and that’s still the case with our incredible Bigger + Sports bundle.
