BT has opened up its TV remote record app to all YouView users.
It follows a recent controversial decision by YouView to withdraw its own app, which left non-BT YouView users without access to some of the advanced functionality supported by their receiver.
YouView is a platform used by BT, TalkTalk, Plusnet and some Sony TVs.
YouView confirmed:
From the end of March, BT will be opening up the remote record functionality within the BT TV app for all YouView users. This means that users will be able to book recordings remotely to their YouView box using the BT TV app even if they do not have a BT TV subscription.
Update: a number of affected users have confirmed the BT app has already opened the additional functionality across non-BT YouView boxes, ahead of schedule.
