Sky change for Smithsonian Channel

The free-to-air factual channel is moving up Sky's channel list.

Just over a year after arriving in the British Isles, the ViacomCBS-backed channel has been working to become more prominent in UK households. After boosting its Freeview coverage and channel number at the beginning of the year, Smithsonian is now getting promoted on Sky.
On Monday 9th March, Smithsonian Channel will move from Sky channel 195 to channel 160, meaning it will sit closer to more established channels Yesterday, HGTV and Blaze rather than the more obscure channels at the bottom of the list.
Despite its US origins, the factual channel features a number of documentaries featuring British culture and history, screening programmes including Aerial Britain, Mystic Britain and An American Aristocrat's Guide to Great Estates with Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke.
Sky channel 160 was previously the home of VH1 UK, which closed at the beginning of January.
