Trace closes two UK channels; pushes SVoD option

Trace promotes online alternative, that will continue to offer access to a range of live music channels.

After just seven months, Trace is axing two of its music channels after its push into the UK market went sour.

Trace Latina and Starz will close during the early hours of 1st June 2020. Trace Urban will take on programmes from Latina. Trace Vault remains unaffected.

Instead, UK viewers are being invited to sign-up to Trace Play, a subscription video-on-demand service that includes live streams of up to 25 of Trace's various international music television channels, plus radio and on-demand content. A one month free trial is currently being offered.

Trace entered the UK market after acquiring the former CSC / Chart Show TV channels from Sony Pictures Television in 2018. During an investigation into a breach in broadcasting rules under its former owner, Trace told Ofcom in 2019 that it had plans to rebrand the Starz channel. In the end, that never came to fruition.

Trace Play is available online, on streaming devices including Roku and via mobile/tablet apps. The regular monthly charge is £2.99 a month or £29.99 for an annual subscription. All information correct at time of publication.
