French and Saunders specials from 1988 to 2005 join the over 100 Christmas TV specials from years past on the site. A different special will be highlighted daily in the run up to Christmas Day in a nostalgic digital advent (Full list below).
BritBox’s ‘Very Christie Christmas’ will also launch in mid December highlighting over 100 episodes of Agatha Christie classics including seasons one and two of the BBC’s original Miss Marple series starring Joan Hickson, all six seasons of Christie’s Miss Marple starring Geraldine McEwan and Julia McKenzie, and David Suchet’s Being Poirot documentary. Further factual content includes Harry Potter: A History of Magic and Sandringham: The Queen at Christmas.
Classic British family films Oliver Twist (1948), Pollyanna (2002), Tarka the Otter and Bugsy Malone put the finishing touches to the collection.

BritBox is now streaming on 2017 and newer Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV (series 4 and later) as well as on iOS and Android Apps. Roku, Freeview Play, YouView, Chromecast and Amazon Fire apps are being prepared, but no launch date has been confirmed. BritBox costs £5.99 a month after a 30 day free trial.
Originally created by the BBC and ITV to provide British TV to American viewers, the relatively new UK BritBox service is controlled by ITV (90% stake in the service) with content licensed from ITV, the BBC and Channel 5 or the independent producers of programmes that were shown on these channels, with Channel 4 due to provide a package of programmes next year.
