Early launch for Disney+

Disney has brought forward the launch date of its subscription video-on-demand service Disney+ by a week.

Users in the UK, Ireland and several other countries will now be able to access the service from 24th March 2020, instead of the originally scheduled 31st March.

Access to the service will cost £5.99 a month (or €6.99 in Republic of Ireland), or £59.99 / €69.99 for an annual subscription.

How the launch will impact existing linear Disney channels in the UK and Ireland is not yet clear. Disney has been closing channels in other countries ahead of the launch.

Subscribers will be able to enjoy the Disney+ experience on nearly all major mobile and connected TV devices at launch, including gaming consoles, streaming media players, and smart TVs. Users will access high-quality and commercial-free viewing, up to four concurrent streams, unlimited downloads on up to ten devices, personalised recommendations, and the ability to set up to seven different profiles, including the ability for parents to set Kids Profiles that have an easy- to -navigate, child-friendly interface to access age-appropriate content.
