FreeSports shuts Irish Sky service

FreeSports has closed its service to Sky subscribers in the Republic of Ireland.

As a result, the Irish version of the channel, broadcast in the country most recently on Sky channel 435 has now been removed.

FreeSports continues as normal for viewers in the UK, where the channel is available in HD on Sky.

Sky viewers in the Republic of Ireland can still manually tune in the free-to-air UK HD version of the channel via their Sky box.

The knowledge // How to manually retune your Sky box:

SkyQ -
Go to the "settings" menu
Then to "Home", "settings", then "manual tuning".
You will need to enter the tuning parameters such as frequency, polarisation and Symbol Rate and then save the newly added channels.

Sky HD and Sky+HD boxes:
1. Press the Services button on remote.
2. Go to the options section.
3. Select "Add Channels"
4. Enter the parameters for the channel you want to add, such as frequency, polarisation and Symbol Rate.
5. Press yellow to allow the receiver to add services.
6. A selection of channels found by the receiver appears
7. For every new channel you want to store, highlight the channel and press yellow. A tick appears next to the channel name
8. Press select to complete the task and save the channels you've added.
You can then view services via the "Other Channels" menu.
