Sewing returns to Freeview channel 73

Channel returns under new name and ownership, but the same management.

Sewing Street's first broadcast took place earlier on Friday, taking over Sewing Quarter's previous broadcast capacity on Freeview.

Sewing Street is currently only broadcast on Freeview channel 73 and on YouTube. The service's Ofcom license is now linked to a subsidary of Gemporia after Immediate Media offloaded their shopping channel business, which also includes Jewellery Maker.

The deal that saw Sewing Street take Sewing Quarter's Freeview slot did not include other assets including the Sewing Quarter website and Sky slot, which was closed in January.

But the launch of Sewing Street hasn't gone without controversy: the owner of an existing Lancashire business of the same time has expressed her annoyance over the choice of name, taking to Facebook to voice her concerns, urging the channel's manager Neil Garratt to contact her to resolve the matter amicably.
