It's part of a joint venture between A+E Networks UK and Sky and follows a successful year for the channel, which saw its audience share increase by 11%, driven by the popularity of Curse of Oak Island and new hit series UnXplained with William Shatner. The new Sky History service will also feature a growing range of UK shows.
The change from History to Sky History is due to occur this spring. The channel will continue to broadcast on Sky, Virgin Media, BT and TalkTalk and join Sky's Now TV service for the first time.
History 2 (formerly H2) will become Sky History 2 at the same time.
Sky HISTORY will continue to be managed and operated by the A+E Networks® UK team from their Hammersmith offices.

Sky is already in the process of launching Sky Documentaries and Sky Nature this spring.
