BritBox UK is now looking at completing Freeview Play and YouView roll-out in the second quarter of 2020.
ITV, which holds a 90% share in BritBox UK, confirmed in its latest set
of financial results that the rollout on these platforms is running
later than previously indicated.
At the present time, BritBox UK has already started to become available
on smart TVs with Freeview Play - recent Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi,
JVC and Bush smart TV models are among the devices that now offer the
app.
But the service has so far failed to materialise on YouView boxes, such
as those used by BT TV and TalkTalk TV customers. At one point, users
were informed that the service would be available by the end of 2019.
Viewers with YouView and those with a Freeview Play device that doesn't
yet have BritBox UK can expect the service to pop up at some point
between the beginning of April and the end of June.
