Nottingham's local channel confirms Coronavirus plans

Local TV channel Notts TV has outlined how it will continue broadcasting during the Coronavirus outbreak.

It has confirmed today it's going to be putting its resources in maintaining its main 5:30pm news magazine show Ey Up Notts and will be running  special thank you messages to people working on the front line, such as NHS staff, emergency workers and others "keeping things going".

For now, the channel says it will continue full time broadcasting hours, but some other new programmes "might take a break for the time being", according to the Nottingham-based station, which first launched nearly five years ago as part of a Government scheme to launch local TV to a number of towns and cities across the UK.

Local channels, alongside other smaller broadcasters, face great pressure to maintain a service going forward, thanks to already relatively low staff numbers and shoestring budgets.
