NBC Sky World News was due to launch this summer, but that launch has been put on hold, a
according to US website Variety, quoting insider sources.
It's the latest new channel launch that has had to be postponed due to the current uncertainty surrounding the global virus outbreak. DAZN UK, Sky Nature, Sky History and Sky Documentaries are now due to launch later than initially indicated, as resources are limited to maintaining current services as workers remain on lockdown at home or in self-isolation.
The new World News service was born out of the acquisition of Sky by of NBC owner Comcast, which aims to bring together NBC and Sky resources for the new London-based channel. Prior to this acquisition, NBC had been mooting converting Euronews, which it also has a stake in, into Euronews NBC and making that into a bigger global player.
