Sky's new factual channels arrive on Virgin Media

Sky's newest TV channels have now gone live on cable, with Virgin Media adding the services during the early hours of this morning.

Virgin Media UK customers can find Sky Documentaries on channel 277 and Sky Nature on channel 279. History and History 2 - now known as Sky History and Sky History 2 - remain on their previous channel numbers - 270 and 272. All channels are in HD only.

The launch of these channels was initially surrounded by a veil of secrecy, with neither Sky or Virgin Media going on the record ahead of their arrival to officially confirm their availability on the cable network, effectively becoming a 'worst-kept secret' as pre-launch testing for the channels commenced on the cable network.

Following their arrival this morning, David Bouchier, Chief Digital Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media has commented:
We are delighted to be adding these two new powerful Sky channels for our premium TV customers. With some of the best factual and nature programming on the planet, these channels offer diverting stories and an escape into the natural world at this difficult time.

The arrival follows a reshuffle of a number of factual and lifestyle channels on Virgin Media UK, which saw channels such as HGTV and Food Network move to new channel numbers at the end of last week.

Sky Documentaties and Sky Nature are available to Virgin Media customers on the Maxit subscription package, previously known as 'Full House'.
