The station replaces Heat Radio on the digital terrestrial television platform.
Its launch on Freeview follows a recent announcement by owner Bauer Media which will see numerous FM stations join the Greatest Hits Radio network as part of a massive expansion of brand's reach across the UK.
Greatest Hits Radio offers listeners classic hits from the 1970s, 80s and 90s and can now be accessed on Freeview channel 716. Viewers with YouView boxes for BT, Plusnet or TalkTalk TV can also access the service on the same channel number.
Sister network The Hits, which covers newer music, is already a long-established station on Freeview channel 711.
The Freeview switch leaves Heat Radio available as an online-only station, available via mobile and smart speakers.
Heat was replaced by Greatest Hits Radio overnight, but its Freeview service ID is still showing as Heat. This is due to change at lunchtime today.
